CHARLOTTE — Five people were rushed to the hospital early Monday morning after a major crash in north Charlotte, MEDIC said.
It happened around midnight in the 6600 block of Beatties Ford Road.
One person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, three were seriously hurt and another sustained injuries that MEDIC said were not life-threatening.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Unit shut down Beatties Ford Road from Lakeview Road to Trinity Road around 12:20 a.m. That portion of the road remained closed for hours Monday morning.

As of 5:30 a.m., Duke Energy crews were still working to repair utility lines that were damaged in the crash.
Channel 9 is asking when the road is expected to reopen.
