CHARLOTTE — NASA will attempt to launch a rocket Wednesday night that may be visible from our area.
The Black Brant XII sounding rocket is expected to launch from the Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia.

The sounding rocket will release a barium cloud when it’s about 200 miles into the atmosphere.
The cloud should be visible for 30 to 60 seconds weather permitting, according to NASA.

“LAUNCH SCRUBBED Tonight’s launch of the KiNET-X sounding rocket has been scrubbed due to cloudy skies in Bermuda and Wallops. The next launch opportunity will be no earlier than May 12, at 8:06 p.m. EDT. Backup days run through May 16.”
