CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was stabbed to death trying to break into a west Charlotte apartment Thursday night, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Officers responded to an assault call on Park Fairfax Drive around 7:40 p.m. and when they arrived they found 26-year-old Stan Wilson Jr. suffering from a stab wound.
He then was stabbed multiple times by the person inside the apartment.
Wilson was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said Wilson tried to force his way into an apartment and then got into a fight with someone inside.
Police have not said if it was a robbery attempt but said Wilson was trying to get into an apartment that wasn't his.
Neighbors told Channel 9 that they’re concerned Wilson wasn’t acting alone.
"When we have to come home and it’s a frightening experience because you don't know if they got all parties involved,” said one neighbor.
Detectives are working to determine if there was a relationship between Wilson and the people inside the apartment.
