HICKORY, N.C. — Officials released more details about a rescue in Hickory off the roof of a hospital after a man jumped from a fourth-floor window.

Police said a 35-year-old patient at Frye Regional Medical Center broke out a window before jumping to a canopy where he landed on a metal air vent.

Officers shut down North Center Street for nearly an hour as firefighters used a ladder truck to lower the man to the ground.

Police are not releasing the man's name, but said he had deep cuts to his left foot and forearm from the fall.
