Officials: 4 people living on Charlotte's streets killed in last 6 weeks

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Four people living on Charlotte's streets were murdered in the last six weeks.

Authorities said the cases aren't related, but advocates and officers told Channel 9 they're concerned.

In the video above, veteran reporter Mark Becker breaks down the recent rise in crime impacting the homeless community and what advocates are doing to help keep them safe.

Director of the Men's Shelter and Urban Ministries Liz Clasen Kelly said more people are finding themselves on the streets because of Charlotte's spiraling housing costs and danger shouldn't be one of their concerns.
