CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — Officials said a "hoax device" was found Monday near Rocky River Crossing neighborhood pool around 1 p.m. Monday.

The pool is on Rocky River Crossing Road, near its intersection with Roberta Road.

Five homes on Creek View Court were evacuated temporarily, the residents going to Harrisburg Fire Station No. 1, 6462 Morehead Road.

Safety officials determined that denotation was the safest way to mitigate the situation and the device posed no danger to the public.

The Cabarrus County Bomb Squad detonated a hoax device found around 2:30 p.m. resulting in a loud boom.
