HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A woman was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Friday night after being impaled by a gate at Hopewell High School during a high school football game in Huntersville, officials said.

Fire officials said the woman was leaving in her car when the wind blew the gate shut and a portion of the gate went through the headlight, engine compartment then into the driver.
"She was able to pull herself off of it. She's very lucky where it hit her," said Bill Suthard, Huntersville Police Department.
No other information about the accident has been released.
