LONG VIEW, N.C. — A man has been charged with murder in the death of an 18-month-old boy in Long View, according to officials.
They said the children’s mother was not home and the children were being watched by William Howard Lail, the mother’s boyfriend.
Investigators said Lail, 25, has been charged with murder in the death of the toddler. He was also charged with two counts of felony child abuse.
He's accused of killing Jaden and injuring his sister, 3-year-old Kylie, who was taken to an area hospital to be treated for burns.
"They were good grandbabies -- miss him already," said grandmother Maggie Ervin.
State and local police were at the scene for hours Friday trying to figure out what happened.
Officials were called to the home around 1 p.m. Friday.
