MONROE, N.C. — Operations at the Monroe airport ceased Wednesday morning for several hours after a plane went off the runway, officials said.
Officials said the pilot was attempting to land at the time. There were three passengers also in the plane at the time.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
Officials said it was foggy at the time of the landing.
The incident happened at 9:53 a.m. on the Charlotte Highway end of the airport.
The airport reopened around 2:30 p.m.
