LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Eyewitness News is learning more about what led up to a tragic shooting in Lincoln County, the first homicide in the county this year. Investigators said a husband killed his wife.
"She loved him, like I said, love is blind," Denise Morgan, part of the victim's family, said.
Ruby White's family said she was a woman who was devoted to her husband, but now her husband, Terry White, is behind bars and charged with her murder. The family is devastated. Family members said they bought him the gun used in the crime.
"Me and her bought it several years ago for him for his Christmas present," Ruby's ex-husband Albert Bradshaw said. "I never thought it would be this way though."
Lincoln County deputies went in and out of the home on Rosehill Drive all afternoon Saturday. They said Terry White called 911 after shooting his wife and threatened to take his own life. He had to be shot with a stun gun just to get him into custody.
The family said they wants justice.
"We want him gone away from us, away from this family," Benita Black said.
The family lives close to their mother's home. Family members believe their tight bond will help them get through this.
"She's not suffering anymore, and she'll never have to go through that again. That's the only plus out of the situation," Morgan said.
White is being held without bond.
