Power restored after snake causes outage for over 4,000 customers in Statesville

STATESVILLE, N.C. — The city of Statesville’s utility says 4,500 customers lost power because of a snake.

Statesville Public Power reported the outage just before 3 p.m.

The utility said a snake came into contact with equipment at a substation.

Crews restored power in about an hour and a half.
