CHARLOTTE — Carolina Panthers long snapper JJ Jansen is set to make history on Sunday when he plays in his 282nd NFL game.
The Panthers are taking on the Philadelphia Eagles.
The appearance will establish a new NFL record for the most games played by a long snapper, surpassing the previous record held by Trey Junkin.
Jansen, 40, was a long snapper for Notre Dame before joining the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2008, where he only participated in preseason play and spent the regular season on injured reserve.
The Panthers acquired Jansen in 2009, and he has remained in Carolina ever since.

Among active players in the league, Jansen ranks second in total games played behind Calais Campbell, a defensive end for the Baltimore Ravens who has appeared in 283 games.
Former Detroit Lions kicker Jason Hanson holds the NFL record for the most games played for a single franchise at 327 games.
