CABARRUS CO. — The Highway Patrol said one person died Tuesday after an accident on Highway 601 in Cabarrus County.
The call came in at 5:40 p.m. and Chopper 9 flew over the scene.

Troopers said two vehicles were involved, a Hyundai Sonata and Ford Explorer. The accident happened on Highway 601 near Old Monroe Road.
Officials told Channel 9 that 44-year-old Reginald McNeil, of Mint Hill, died when the car he was driving crossed the center line and crashed head-on into the vehicle driven by 23-year-old Tyreese Bennett of Concord.
Bennett was taken to Carolinas Medical Center Northeast then airlifted to CMC Main.
The road reopened at about 7:45 p.m., officials said.
