ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A 48-year-old man was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Rowan County, officials said.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, it happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday near Pinnacle Way in the town of Landis.

The body of Luis Javier Marrero Muniz was found on the tracks behind 1450 Pinnacle Way Drive, the sheriff’s office said. Earlier, Muniz was involved with a domestic disturbance where the caller said he was intoxicated. Muniz left before the police got there and was last seen jumping over a guard rail onto the tracks.
The investigation is ongoing pending results from the medical examiner’s office.
