CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Brookshire Boulevard in northwest Charlotte Saturday morning, officials said.
It happened around 1:45 a.m. and all lanes on Brookshire Boulevard near the intersection of Honeywood Avenue were closed in both directions for several hours.
Roger Denzel Cuthbertson, 25, died at a hospital after getting hit by a car, and while attempting to get up, was struck by a motorcyclist.
A witness told police that a driver in a black Mercedes Benz, who struck the pedestrian crossing the street, fled the scene.
Police said they arrested 31-year-old Nakia Michelle Phillips, the driver of the Mercedes, at her home.

Officials said the motorcyclist traveling north on Brookshire Boulevard struck the pedestrian, who was attempting to get up from the first impact.
Phillips is charged with felony hit and run.
Investigators said speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors for the drivers in the crash, but they are still determining if the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol.
