CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person who died after driving into a utility pole and a tree in south Charlotte last weekend has been identified by police.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 4300 block of Weddington Road, at the entrance of Colonel Francis Beatty Park.
Officials said a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Marshal Thomas Little, 59, crossed into the oncoming lane, ran off the road and struck a utility pole and a tree.
Little was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, officials said.
Police said the crash was caused by a medical event and that Little was not speeding.
