CORNELIUS, N.C. — Police in Cornelius have determined that a reported shooting near Lake Norman was a suicide.
Authorities said they went to a home in the Rockridge Shores Community around 6 p.m. for reports of gunshots and found one person dead.
Upon further investigation, officials said they found that the victim had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities with the Cornelius Police Department expressed their condolences to the family, friends and neighbors of the victim, and thanked them for their cooperation.
