Person hit, killed by truck on highway in Lancaster County, troopers say

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — A person was hit by a truck and killed on a highway in Lancaster County Wednesday night, South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 200 near Reece Road. Authorities said a Chevrolet Tahoe hit the person and they were taken to the hospital where they later died. The driver was not hurt in the crash.

Troopers said the person was not on a crosswalk when the driver hit them.

Channel 9 has reached out to investigators to see if anyone will be charged.

The identity of the person who died has not yet been released.
