CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — A person was killed and another was hurt in a crash Saturday afternoon in Chesterfield County, troopers said.
Highway Patrol responded to the wreck at around 3:20 p.m. on Airport Road at Smith Lane.

According to troopers, a driver was traveling east on Smith Lane and didn’t stop at the stop sign, and was struck by a dump truck traveling south on Airport Road. The truck then went off the roadway and struck a mailbox.
The driver in the first vehicle died at the scene. Their identity has not been released. The driver in the dump truck was taken to a local hospital for their injuries.
Authorities said the driver who died was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
