Man hit by stray bullet during celebration at Buddhist center

A man was hit in the head by a stray bullet Friday night as hundreds were celebrating a new Buddhist temple on Owen Boulevard off North Tryon Street.

The bullet came down through the tent, striking the vendor, who was cooking food.

Police think someone from outside of the area shot a gun in the air.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital and officers believe the man will be OK.
