CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A barbecue business in the Plaza-Midwood area was robbed early Thursday morning, according to police reports.
The robber pointed the gun at one of the managers and demanded he open the safe.
Midwood Smokehouse on Central Avenue owner Frank Scibelli said a dishwasher was taking the trash out after just after 12 a.m. Thursday.
The robber followed him back in and approached a manager in the office, putting a gun to the manager's head and asked for money from the safe.
Scibelli said in his 25 years with this business nothing like that has ever happened.
"Hopefully they get the guy," Scibelli said.
The owner said he's proud of his team for their actions and of the police for arriving at the restaurant in a matter of minutes.
Police haven't released a description of the armed robber.
