SALISBURY, N.C. — Salisbury police are investigating after they said two teens were shot near a bounce house business over the weekend.
Officers told Channel 9 the teens were shot near Bounce City early Sunday morning and ran to nearby Innes Street and flagged down officers for help.
Investigators said they found a big crowd near the bounce house and called in more deputies to help clear them out.
“If you're going to be a children’s playhouse, be a children's playhouse,” Salisbury Councilman Kenny Hardin said.
He sent an email to city leaders Monday seeking a suspension of Bounce City's license.
“We need to investigate what's going on,” Hardin said.
Management said the location hosted an after-prom party Saturday night with about 200 people but the owner said.
"Everyone was wanded,” manager Jehan Davis said. “Hand-patted and checked for weapons at the door."
Davis denied the shooting even happened near Bounce City.
"It just appears that anytime there is a so-called 'shots heard' there's some connection that they're trying to attribute to my business and it's very frustrating," Davis said.
Hardin who said there was a report of shots fired in the area last month is demanding more responsibility from the owner.
"You can't get people wrapped up into a frenzy and then say. 'Well when they leave, it's not my problem,'" Hardin said.
Both 18-year-old shooting victims were released from the hospital.
One said he didn't know or see who shot him.
