News that he was found apparently killed in his home touched a nerve with neighbor Ronald Moore.

"All I kept saying, repeating in my head, 'that could have been me that could have been me.' You know so close to home," neighbor Ronald Moore said.

Moore didn't know the man who lived and died just a few doors down. But he didn't expect something like that to happen so close to his home.

"A couple of deep breaths, dropped down to my knees prayed to my higher power," Moore said.

Police call the neighborhood, "a neighborhood in transition."

They spoke with loved ones who arrived on the scene early.
