NEWTON, N.C. — A pastor from the Victory Empowerment Center, International, has been accused of building a relationship through text messages with a 13-year-old girl.
Bradley Moss has been accused of telling the girl he wanted to have sex and for the teenager to be his wife, despite Moss already being married.
According to court documents, it was the teenager's own mother who learned about the text messages.
"It's just devastated my entire family. It devastated the entire church family. I can't explain it. The trust has been destroyed," said the girl's mother.
The church, which is inside the Brookeford Community Center, meets twice a week.
Town leaders want to move the church out because of other youth groups that meet in the building.
"We're waiting on our lawyer. We're going to give them 30 days' notice to move the church out. We got so many young ones coming in here, we're not going to take any more chances on anything like that happening again," said Thomas Schronce, mayor of Brookford.
Police say Moss admitted to sending her messages and also told authorities he did wrestle with the teenager and desired to touch her in an inappropriate manner.
The girl's mother hopes other parents learn from what happened to her family.
"My thing to 'parents are check the Twitter, check the Facebook, periodically. Check the cellphone because you never just know," said the girl's mother.
Newton police said they started investigating Moss in July after learning of the incident.
Moss is accused of taking indecent liberties with a child.
He was jailed, with bail set at $100,000.
Moss is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
According to Moss' Facebook page, he is a graduate of Newton-Conover High School and is currently studying psychology and counseling at the University of Phoenix.
