Police: Man seriously hurt in early morning shooting in South End

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating after a man was seriously hurt in a shooting early Monday morning in South End.

Officers responded to the scene on South Mint Street at Summit Avenue, just outside of uptown Charlotte, just before 2:15 a.m.

Police said the victim, a 26-year-old man, was taken to the hospital after he had been shot multiple times. Officials said he suffered life-threatening injuries.

At the scene, officers could be seen disarming and securing a gun. Channel 9 crews also saw bullet casings on both sides of a vehicle at the scene. Police were seen placing evidence markers to account for them.

Police have not said if any arrests have been made.
