CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a homicide after a body was found Dec. 14 on the property line of Idlewild Elementary School.
Sources told Channel 9 that a boy on his way to school Wednesday morning found the body of Israel Jacob Williams, 19.
CMPD charged Isaiah Green, 18, with murder a week later.
Officers responded to two calls on Dec. 13 after neighbors heard shots fired on Idlewild Road. Authorities patrolled the area, but weren’t able to find any evidence of a crime or shooting.
Detectives have determined that the calls made Dec. 13 for shots fired were related to William's body found near the fence between Idlewild Elementary School and an adjoining neighborhood.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective. Detective Fitch is the lead detective assigned to the case. The public can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
