ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. — Police are investigating after a body washed ashore on the Isle of Palms beach Saturday afternoon, WCIV reported.
Officers were initially called to the scene at around 12:30 p.m. for a reported swimmer who had drowned, according to Isle of Palms police Chief Kevin Cornett.

Once authorities got to the scene, they determined the person was already dead. Police said they don’t believe it was a drowning that happened Saturday.
Officials said the body was found on the front beach. The victim’s identity has not been released at this point.
This is an ongoing investigation.
