CMPD says deadly shooting at east Charlotte apartments was ‘justified’

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have classified a shooting that left a man dead outside an east Charlotte apartment complex in April as a “justified homicide.”

The shooting happened just after 10 a.m. on April 26 at an apartment complex on Audrey Street, off Eastway Drive.

On Friday, CMPD declared the shooting as a “justified homicide,” but did not give an explanation of why.

When officers got to the area, they found a man with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.. Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting.

After the shooting, police said they were not looking for any suspects.

Authorities said the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and agreed with CMPD’s decision to not charge anyone.
