CHARLOTTE — Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting death in southeast Charlotte Thursday morning.
Police were called around 7:30 a.m. to the scene on McGregor Drive, near Lawyers Road and Interstate 485.
Police found the victim, Michael James Deseve, 48, in the driveway and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Officers told Channel 9 that the shooter, John Michael Odea, 36, was found in the backyard with a gun nearby. Police were able to de-escalate the situation and Odea was taken into custody.

Odea was charged with murder.
Circumstances surrounding the city’s latest homicide have not been released yet as detectives continue to investigate.
