Surveillance video was provided by a store clerk that showed the victim walking in front of the Marathon gas station when a white car pulled up and someone inside that vehicle began shooting.
People in the area told Channel 9 they're frustrated and that there is too much loitering and illegal activity at the gas station.
"This gas station has more problems than a little bit. It's open all night long and constantly has people back and forth, crack, marijuana, begging for money,” said Tony Rogers.

There have been three violent crimes within a quarter-mile of the gas station this year.
One incident was two months ago when Malik Teasdell was found dead inside a car at the gas station.
“I talked to the landlord about hiring a security guard to patrol. It might deter some of the people,” said Rogers.
Eyewitness News tried to talk to managers at the gas station Wednesday, but employees declined to talk and a manager did not return our phone call.
Police didn’t release a motive in the shooting but said it wasn’t drug related.
There were no arrests made by Wednesday afternoon.
The victim is expected to recover, police said.
