Police: Man wanted after cutting off electronic monitor

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for a man they said cut off his electronic monitor on Monday.

Anthony McCreary is wanted on outstanding warrants for possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury and interfering with an electronic monitoring device, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Police said he was ordered to wear an electronic monitor as a condition of his release from jail on Sept. 15, 2012. On Monday, McCreary cut off his electronic monitor and was last seen near Kimberly Glenn Lane, according to officials.

Anyone with information on McCreary’s whereabouts should contact the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team at 704-336-VCAT or call 911, police said.
