CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police released 911 calls made after a man was shot and killed during the protests in uptown Charlotte in September.

Justin Carr was shot outside the Omni Hotel and died a day later, police said.

“There’s someone who just got shot at the corner of South College and East Trade,” said the 911 caller.

“OK, where did the person go that shot him?” asked the 911 dispatcher.

“He ran away,” said the caller.

Channel 9 had a crew at the shooting scene, and also flagged down an officer to report the shooting.

Police used surveillance cameras from outside the Omni Hotel to identify Rayquan Borum as the man who shot Carr.

The state announced in October it will not ask for the death penalty in Borum’s case.

Protests broke out in Charlotte in September in the wake of the fatal police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott, 43.

Scott was shot by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Officer Brentley Vinson, who was not in uniform or wearing a body camera.
