Portion of I-77 in Davidson closed after crash involving tractor-trailer

DAVIDSON, N.C. — A crash involving a tractor-trailer had a portion of Interstate 77 in Davidson shut down Saturday.

The crash happened just before 1 p.m. on I-77 near mile marker 30.

According to Highway Patrol, a medical condition caused the driver of the tractor-trailer to crash into a retaining wall. The driver was airlifted to a local hospital due to the medical condition. No other details have been released.

The express lanes going northbound on the highway have been shut down. Drivers should avoid the area.

According to Huntersville Fire, several agencies responded to the crash. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
