CHARLOTTE — In just a few short weeks, thousands of music fans will fill a new outdoor venue in Ballantyne for its first performance.

The Amp Ballantyne is set to open for its fall concert series on Sept. 1.

The amphitheater is the first phase of a much larger project that developer Northwood has planned. The Amp will be next door to The Bowl, which will feature retail, bars and restaurants from Charlotte brands such as Olde Mecklenburg Brewery.

With the new entertainment options bringing more people to the area, the developer has widened roads and an intersection. In addition, two new roadways have been added to create multiple access points.

“We recognize that south Charlotte has never seen anything like this, so to be the source of more access to arts, culture, quality entertainment, it’s exciting for the whole Charlotte region but specifically the Ballantyne community,” Northwood Office’s Hailey Rorie said.

“We have great relationships with CMPD and the city, so we’re already hard at work with them coming up with plans to make sure that we’re prepared,” Rorie said.
