CHARLOTTE — The U.S. Womens National Team captivated the Queen City on Friday night in the team’s first game of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Some supporters attended watch parties across Charlotte instead of watching from home.

The Fairwood 226 in lower South End hosted a dual-watch party to bring USWNT supporters and Charlotte FC fans together to watch two big games.

“Anytime soccer was on TV, even if it was 4 a.m., my dad would wake me up and we were watching soccer,” said superfan Diana Debski. “I really love it, huge fan.”

The USWNT played Vietnam while Charlotte FC faced FC Dallas in the Leagues Cup.

Team U.S.A. beat Vietnam 3-0 and plays Netherlands Wednesday night.

Charlotte FC beat FC Dallas in a penalty shootout for the team’s first win of the Cup.
