ROCK HILL, S.C. — Congressman Ralph Norman had a strong showing in some major cities Tuesday night, but it wasn’t enough to overcome state-wide support for Sen, Darline Graham.
Norman won big at home, and across much of the upstate, but Graham built broad statewide support.
Congressman Norman told his supporters he’s disappointed. He said he was fighting against millions of dollars used by the Graham campaign.
He also expressed disappointment that President Trump got involved in the race by endorsing Graham.
Norman said he still plans to support the senator in November.
“The president got involved. That’s his right. That’s his prerogative,” he said as people booed. “I mean his polices are good. But I never understood why he got in this race. I’m gonna support the Republicans. I’m not supporting the Democrats. I’m going to support her, Darline the best I can.”
This is the second political loss for Congressman Norman this year after failing to secure the Republican nomination for governor. He said his next role will be outside the political arena.
