Real estate roundup: A look at the latest residential projects in the Charlotte area

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Plans for more apartments in the farther reaches of the Charlotte region have unfolded in recent weeks.

That includes a mixed-use project in downtown Hickory, a city about 54 miles northwest of Charlotte that’s undergoing a revitalization centered around a system of urban greenways. That project, which will add 95 apartments above street-level commercial space, is expected to start in the fall.

Check out this slideshow for a closer look at the residential projects that are planned or underway across the Charlotte market, as reported by CBJ staffers in August.

Also this fall, about 29 miles north of Charlotte, another mixed-use development including apartments is expected to get underway in Mooresville, transforming a 126-year-old textile mill in that community’s downtown.

Closer to center city, a 309-unit apartment complex along the light-rail line in Optimist Park opened in August, and work continues on 91 “micro-units” as part of the RailYard development in South End.
