CORNELIUS, N.C. — State regulators have once again denied Atrium Health’s application to open a hospital in the Lake Norman area.

Charlotte-based Atrium applied last November to open a separately licensed hospital in Cornelius. That $153.9 million facility would include 30 acute-care beds and two operating rooms. Atrium had planned to relocate the beds and operating rooms from Carolinas Medical Center and Atrium Health-University City, according to state filings.
