Report: Cleveland Co. fairgrounds manager resigns

CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — The Cleveland County fairgrounds manager has resigned according to a news release, news partner The Shelby Star is reporting.

Calvin Hastings has served as fair manager since August 2011. His resignation takes effect July 26.

Last year's fair was marked by six days of rain and an E. coli outbreak that sickened more than 100 people in Cleveland and surrounding counties, the Shelby Star reported.

The Cleveland County Fair Association issued a statement saying it accepted the voluntary resignation of Hastings. No manager has been named.
