Report: Panthers 2nd most popular team jersey this season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have received the most widespread support for jersey sales among the remaining playoff teams, according to the Dick’s Sporting Goods Jersey Report.

Channel was at Bank of America stadium, where the field is covered up because of the rain. You can also bet the people in these seats will be covered up in Panthers gear come Sunday.

"I'm excited. I had about an hour-and-a-half sleep since I got in," Tim Marston said.

You could call Marston a fanatic.

I have everything. Beer lights to little trucks, everything," Marston said.

He flew in from California for the game and just couldn't wait till the doors opened at the team store, to add to his jersey collection.

"Kerry Collins, Frank Reich, I got them all, but I wanted Kuechly," Marston said.

Turns out Kuechly is one of the hottest sellers this year. Dicks Sporting Goods tracks all the jersey sales real time.

"Right now, Luke Keuchly is No. 2 for overall jersey sales," Christina Horrigan said.

Cam is at No. 6 and it's worth pointing out that the Seahawks Russell Wilson dropped to ten.

"The Carolina Panthers as a team have the No. 1 jersey sales across the board. One big reason is the expanding fan base," Horrigan said.

Everyone we talked to today was from out of town some, new Panthers fans.

"My actual team is San Fran, and we're not doing good at all. So I want the Panthers to take it," Horrigan said.

And if or when the Panthers win on Sunday officials expect sales to outpace even the busy holiday, when they saw record numbers.

Angelique Arroyo might be back but she'll be looking for something else.

"I'm actually here looking for Cam Newton, so if you know where he's at, let me know," Arroyo said.

Some of the hot items Friday were knit hats and warm weather gear, since Sunday could be pretty cold.

Dick's Sporting Goods store broke down where it's seeing jersey sales spike among the remaining playoff teams.

You can see Panthers pride has really picked up with sales leading the way north to Maryland, south to Florida and west to Texas.

The Panthers led team jersey sales, even in Kansas and Missouri, beating out the hometown Kansas City Chiefs in their own two states.
