Residents protest proposed subdivision at Lincoln County meeting

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Residents in Lincoln County want commissioners to block plans to build a large subdivision.

Several people showed up to Monday night’s meeting with yellow signs that read: “No to Irongate.”

The proposed development would have nearly 700 homes in the small community north of Stanley.

Neighbors said the plans don’t fit their rural lifestyle. Commissioners decided to delay a vote. They want a recommendation from the planning committee first.
