UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A retired judge from Union County with a rare form of cancer hopes his experience can help others.

Former Superior Court Judge David Lee found out he had a softball-sized tumor in his liver in 2019.

Doctors at Atrium discovered he has a type of cancer that is diagnosed in only about 8,000 people annually.

>> In the video at the top of the page, as part of Rare Disease Awareness Day, he wants to urge people to be their own best advocate, especially during the pandemic when people may put off going to the doctor.
