CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Five teenagers were charged after they allegedly conducted two armed robberies and then led police on a chase.

Eastway Drive was shut down in both directions near Shamrock Drive and Frontenac Avenue because of a police investigation involving a crash.

"It was almost a thrill to get in someone's vehicle, point a gun at them and take their vehicle and other belongings," said Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Sgt. Brian Scharf. "In one case, it could have become very violent."
