Students beat the rain and got to compete in the long jump, relay races, throwing frisbees and more.

Teachers say their students-turned Olympians were just excited to be together and compete Friday at Cherry Park Elementary School.

“This is a time to have an opportunity for our kids, their teachers and staff, to show just friendship and camaraderie to participate is fantastic for us,” said Shaquenna McLaughlin, who is with Rock Hill Schools district.

Most of the students say their favorite event was the relay race.
