CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Area Transit System officials held an emergency drill for the Blue Line extension Sunday morning.

“The safety drill will simulate an emergency incident involving the LYNX light rail train and allows CATS staff, City of Charlotte emergency responders and other area agencies to mimic coordination and response during an actual emergency incident,” officials said in a statement.

Emergency responders, including firefighters, police, and ambulance crews took part.

“A lot of moving parts,” CATS spokeswoman Krystel Green said. “A lot of people coming together to help make certain the system is safe and reliable.”

The extension is set to open on March 16.
