SC bank teller admits embezzling over $700K from BofA branch

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. — A South Carolina teller admitted to embezzling more than $700,000 from Bank of America.

A Mt. Pleasant branch manager discovered the crime back in 2011 while Michele Gentry, 59, was out sick.

Investigators said the theft had been going on for 15 years.

A federal prosecutor told the Charleston Post and Courier Gentry used fake bank deposits to cover it up.

She faces up to 33 years in jail and more than $1 million in fines when she is sentenced.
