SC education leaders propose $2,000 annual pay raise for teachers

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Education leaders want to give teachers a pay raise of $2,000 more every year.

The plan would bring the starting teacher pay from $48,500 to $50,500.

Districts will have the option of paying above that, according to the Herald.

Lawmakers are expected to return to Columbia to discuss the proposal in January.
