Some South Carolina lawmakers have said they want to define same-sex marriage as a parody marriage.

Last week, a group of House Republicans filed a bill defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman. It says any other form of marriage is to be considered a parody, and not legally recognized in the state.

The bill's sponsors said sexual orientation policies have created a legal mess for South Carolina.

The bill has been sent to a committee.
