LUMBERTON, N.C. — Officials said a suspect wanted for murder in South Carolina was killed during a shoot-out with North Carolina state troopers Friday morning.
Troopers said the suspect, who was not identified, was first spotted in Maxton, and then chased onto Interstate 95.
Troopers tried to stop the vehicle several times before the shooting happened, officials said.
Authorities said the suspect was shot dead near mile marker seven, in Lumberton.
The SBI is investigating and the two troopers involved have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol.
