DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) — A high school junior asked his girlfriend to their prom by plowing 450-foot-long letters into a Darlington County field and having a family friend fly them over the site.
West Florence High School student Noah Matthews told local news media outlets he wanted to find a special way to ask his girlfriend of seven months to the prom. He came up with the idea of plowing the question into a field.
Matthews says a turf farm allowed him to use their land and a friend let him borrow the tractor. He plowed all day. Another friend who was a pilot took the couple up for the big surprise.
Sophomore Julianne White says her jaw dropped when she saw the giant "PROM?" and she immediately said yes. The dance is Saturday.
